We are awash with communications from people and companies who want our attention. Some people want our vote, others want our money, some of the offers are of interest, the majority are not. Regardless of the value to us, it requires a great deal of time to filter through the barrage of outreach that comes electronically, visually, and in the mail. This is a situation that is getting worse, not better. What should you do?
Selectively identify the channels that are of interest to you personally and professionally and then identify the events that you want to attend in person. Make the effort to cut to the chase by meeting with people 1:1 and making a true connection. The in person contact is the most valuable contact you can make and the rest is just “noise”. You can ignore the outreach that is not germane to your immediate interests.
